The Best Detox Home Bath
Detoxing the body with a detox bath has been a common practice among our ancestors. I remember my mom doing this for us.
The skin is the largest organ in the body and is frequently eliminating waste. Think about the times you have sweat after a strenuous workout. Kind of smelly huh? Thank goodness for your body's natural ability to release toxins. However, that's not always enough...
A detox bath can help with eliminating toxins from your body and also absorb nutrients and minerals. I remember the detox baths my mom administered to us. I have updated it to a sophisticated spa-like refreshing and invigorating type of detox bath since.

Some of the items needed include:
Epsom Salt
Sea Salt
Baking Soda
Lavender Oil
Optional:
Eucalyptus Oil – aids in respiratory ailments
Ground Ginger or Ginger tea bags – helps sweat out toxins
Relaxation Music – to help you relax
Candles – to help you relax
Loofah Brush – to brush off the dead layers of your skin prior to entering bath for 5-10 minutes
A Bottle of Alkaline Bottle – to keep you hydrated
Shower Hair Cap – to keep your hair from getting soaked in the water (trust me you don’t want to strip your hair of it’s natural oils)
Pick a time where you can at least have 45 minutes of uninterrupted time. That means turn off your cell phone, keep the children occupied, or put up a do not disturb sign.
Step 1: Fill up bathtub with hot water (not scolding hot where you can’t put your foot in the water), preferably chlorine free. Many health food stores carry chlorine filters for your bath and shower heads. Step 2: Add Epsom Salt (1/2 cup for children under 60 pounds; 1 cup for children 60-100 pounds; 2 cups for anyone over 100 pounds) to the tub. Epsom salts help flush toxins because of the sulfate in it and also restore magnesium levels in the body. Epsom salt can be readily purchased at almost any store and is relatively inexpensive.
Step 3: Add 1 ½ to 2 cups of baking soda to the tub. Baking soda leaves your skin silky smooth and has cleansing and anti fungal properties.
Step 4: Add about 10 - 15 drops of Lavender Oil (Living Young has essential pure oils). Lavender has relaxing properties and a beautiful fragrance.
Step 5: Optional: Add about 10 drops of Eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus has been used for respiratory ailments like cold, runny nose, nasal congestion and sore throat. It has antiviral, antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and decongestant properties.
Step 6: Optional: Add about 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup of ground ginger in the tub. This will help sweat out toxins as it increases your heat levels.
Step 7: Mix the water around with your hand, put on your shower cap, light some candles, turn on some relaxing music and relax for about 30-45 minutes. Stay hydrated and drink water while you are soaking in the tub.
Step 8: Use caution when exiting the tub. You may feel a bit weak from the toxin drainage and the salts and oil can make your tub slippery.
Step 9: Optional: Use a loofah brush on your skin with upward strokes toward your heart. This can help stimulate the lymphatic system and help with elimination of toxins.
